Summer 2021 – Fall of 2022

ArteaMI4 is a social practice, artivist project based in Milano 4, one of Milan’s fastest changing, most diverse and historically-rooted municipal areas. It is a long-term, community-focused project that employs commoning – the activation and cultivation of what is common for all residents – as everyday practice and perception of belonging, to confront the feeling of decay in the lived experience of the urban environment. Ellie Ivanova and Roselyne Bouyer, the socially-engaged art researchers and founders of this collective, use the invisible details of public-art museology, artivism and industrial archaeology, as well as the concepts of participation, sustainability, diffusion and consistency to harness a brewing sense of ownership of public space.
